Joanne Millar

Chair

Entering her 18th year as a Realtor for Royal LePage and having served a 2-year term as Director on the Vancouver Island Real Estate Board, Joanne is passionate about making a difference in her industry and her community. She helped start the Campbell River Kinette Club, an all-women’s service club, and is excited about serving the chamber board. Joanne enjoys time with her husband and 2 grown daughters. She feels blessed to live on the Island and enjoys hiking, running, gardening, and riding a motorcycle with her husband.

Corey Magowan

Vice Chair

Since 2008, Corey has called Campbell River home, choosing to raise his young family in a safe, and welcoming community. Working in the IT sector since 1999, he, along with his business partner Iza Gilson began IZCO Technology 10 years ago. IZCO Technology Solutions has been a member of the Campbell River Chamber of Commerce since 2014. He is passionate about the community of Campbell River and is dedicated to contributing to its growth and well-being. Outside of professional endeavours, Corey can often be found exploring the backwoods.

Hector Alvarado

Treasurer

As the Project Finance Manager at Broadstreet Properties, Hector is responsible for the oversight of the financial structuring and analysis of their real estate developments across Canada. He holds a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Science in Innovation, and brings a strong foundation in strategic financial management. Hector has served as Treasurer on the Board of the Campbell River & District Chamber of Commerce since 2023, in addition to being a director on the North Island College Foundation Board of Directors.

Chief Ronnie Chickite

Director

Ronnie was re-elected in January 2025 for his second 4 year term as Chief of the We Wai Kai Nation in Campbell River. The We Wai Kai Chief and council work to deliver effective and efficient programs, businesses as well as services for the Nation’s members all while respecting their Nation’s culture and traditions. He is a fourth generation fisherman and currently still participating in the salmon, prawn, halibut, and roe and special use herring fisheries. He also serves on the boards  of the Nanwakolas Council and the A-Tlegay Fisheries Society. 

Chief Chris Roberts

Director

Chris was first elected as the Wei Wai Kum Chief Councillor in 2018 and re-elected to a 2nd term in 2023. He was born and raised in the Wei Wai Kum community and later earned an Economics Degree from UVic in 2008. Chris’s work for the Nation focuses on Economic Prosperity,

External Relations & Title and Rights, as well as the Executive Committee. The Wei Wai Kum Nation also belongs to the Nanwakolas Council where Chris has been involved in the developed a Regional Economic Development Strategy with member First Nations.

David Buckland

Director

Earning his Bachelor’s of Management in Accounting from the University of Lethbridge set David on the path where he  now  specializes in expense management and analysis, and is working toward his CPA designation. He works as an accountant for Broadstreet Properties, as well as small family businesses and volunteers with the Campbell River Salmon Foundation. David is ready for the outreach and community engagement that the role of director for the Campbell River & District Chamber of Commerce will bring.

Kaitlin Guitard

Director

Kaitlin is the Fish Health and Food Safety Laboratory Manager for Mowi Canada West, working with veterinarians and fish health technicians to ensure the health and welfare of their farm-raised salmon from egg to plate. As part of Mowi’s food safety team, she also helps ensure that every piece of salmon leaving their facilities is safe and high-quality. Kaitlin has a BSc in Animal Science from Dalhousie University. She is a co-director of the Young Salmon Farmers of BC and is thrilled to be serving on the chamber board. 

Michael Pedersen

Director

With a background in Management, Media Arts, and Broadcasting, Michael has built a career in media, focusing on business development and growth. As General Manager of The Raven 100.7FM, Michael aims to help strengthen the Chamber’s public outreach, connecting more residents and businesses through meaningful community initiatives. As a husband and father of two teenage boys, he balances his passion for family, reading, and fitness with a strong commitment to community engagement.
